Des musiciens formés à Berklee dans les années 1970-1980 reviennent enseigner en Israël ; dans les années 1990, les contrebassistes Avishai Cohen et Omer Avital s'imposent à New York. Le saxophoniste Arnie Lawrence, installé en Israël, forme une génération qui arrive au début des années 2000 (Anat Cohen, le trompettiste Avishai Cohen).
