Jacques Schwarz-Bart

tenor and soprano saxophones, flute · Guadeloupe

Originally from Guadeloupe and drawn since childhood to gwoka, Jacques Schwarz-Bart did not take up the saxophone seriously until age 24, studied at Berklee and became a sideman for Roy Hargrove, Giovanni Hidalgo, Danilo Pérez and D'Angelo. His albums, including Soné Ka-La (2006), combine gwoka rhythms with jazz.
