Jimmy Scott

vocals · 1925–2014 · Cleveland

Affected by Kallmann syndrome, which limits his height and left him with a high contralto voice of singular timbre, he came to notice with Lionel Hampton on "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" (1949), without being credited. His album The Source (Atlantic, 1969) quickly disappeared for lack of promotion, before a late comeback with All the Way (Sire, 1992), nominated for a Grammy.
