Born in Aarhus, Kai Winding arrived in the United States in 1934, at age 12, and largely taught himself the trombone. Nicknamed "Mr. Trombone", he teamed up with J. J. Johnson and had a hit in 1963 with "More", from the film Mondo Cane.
