Kenny Dorham

trumpet, vocals · 1924–1972 · Fairfield (Texas)

A founding member of the Jazz Messengers in their cooperative version, he succeeded Clifford Brown in Max Roach's quintet in 1956. Composer of "Blue Bossa", he led a group with Joe Henderson in the 1960s that recorded Una Mas for Blue Note.
