Ray Ventura
Pianist and then leader of the Collegians, renamed Collégiens in 1931, he recorded for Columbia from 1928 before establishing a French repertoire written notably by Paul Misraki. His orchestra, a required stop for musicians such as Alix Combelle and Philippe Brun, was a success on record and in film, and Ventura then led a big band in South America in the early 1940s.
