Steve Lacy
Steve Lacy (Steven Norman Lackritz) moved from Dixieland and bebop to the avant-garde, playing with Cecil Taylor, Gil Evans and Thelonious Monk, among others. A soprano saxophonist who became a prolific soloist and bandleader based in Europe, he taught at the New England Conservatory late in life.
