Terje Rypdal

Born in Oslo in 1947, Terje Rypdal started out as a rock guitarist (The Vanguards) before joining Jan Garbarek's group in 1968, then George Russell's sextet and orchestra. A composer of both jazz and classical pieces, he has recorded extensively for ECM; two of his tracks are in the soundtrack of Heat (1995).
