Wilbur Ware

Chicago double bassist, self-taught, with an unorthodox percussive style, regular bassist for Riverside in the 1950s. A member of Thelonious Monk's quartet in 1957-1958, he recorded only one album under his own name in his lifetime, The Chicago Sound.
