Billie's Bounce
Context
Twelve-bar blues in F written by Charlie Parker in 1945 and recorded in November of that year for Savoy, under the name Charlie Parker and His Re-Boppers; Dizzy Gillespie plays piano on it. The origin of the title is debated (a tribute to the agent Billy Shaw, a misspelled name, or his secretary Billie). Jon Hendricks and Eddie Jefferson later added lyrics; the record has been in the Grammy Hall of Fame since 2002.
