Embalo
Context
Composed by pianist Tenório Jr. and arranged by Paulo Moura, "Embalo" gives its title to the musician's only album as a leader, released on RGE in 1964. The track combines an openly acknowledged bebop influence with a Brazilian feel, with a brass section up front, in the samba-jazz vein of Rio's Beco das Garrafas. Tenório Jr. disappeared in Buenos Aires in 1976, killed by Argentine repression; the album was reissued by Mr Bongo in 2017.
