Wayne Shorter · 1966

Context

Composition by Wayne Shorter, first recorded on his album Adam's Apple (Blue Note, session of February 24, 1966), before the version by Miles Davis's quintet on Miles Smiles, which was released earlier and was the theme's first commercial release. It is a twelve-bar minor blues in C, disguised by a ternary meter alternating between duple and triple, with an unusual turnaround.
