Context
Composed by bassist Scott LaFaro, this piece opens Sunday at the Village Vanguard by Bill Evans's trio, recorded live on June 25, 1961, at the Village Vanguard in New York and produced by Orrin Keepnews for Riverside. The take chosen is the second. LaFaro died in a car accident eleven days later, which makes this session the trio's final testimony; the album has been crowned in the Penguin Guide since 1992.
