Honky Tonk Train Blues

Meade Lux Lewis · 1927 (year to be confirmed)

Context

Meade Lux Lewis recorded this solo piano blues in 1927 for Paramount, but the record, released in 1929, sold poorly. Re-recorded in 1935 and then in 1937, it became a hit in the United States and helped popularize boogie-woogie. It is seen as a proto-boogie-woogie blues, and the first song to use the word "honky-tonk."
