Idle Moments
Context
Composition by Duke Pearson, title track of the Grant Green album recorded on November 4 and 15, 1963, at Rudy Van Gelder's in Englewood Cliffs and released by Blue Note in 1965. A slow ballad in C minor lasting nearly fifteen minutes: a confusion over the length of the chorus doubled the planned duration, and Alfred Lion kept the first take because he could not recapture its mood. The album is often cited as the best entry point into Green's work.
