Minor Swing

Quintette du Hot Club de France · 1937

Context

First recorded by the Quintette du Hot Club de France in November 1937, this tune became one of Django Reinhardt's signature compositions and a swing jazz standard. Its repetitive chord progression gives soloists room to improvise and show their virtuosity, and guitarists often quote the phrases Reinhardt recorded. Wynton Marsalis considers it essential.
