Weeping Willow (Scott Joplin)
Context
Composed in 1903 and published by Val A. Reis in St. Louis, "Weeping Willow" is a rag in G major, presented as one of Joplin's simplest, written during a transitional period of his life. Joplin cut it on roll during his 1916 sessions, making it one of the few pieces for which his own playing survives. The rag was also published on Connorized rolls.
