Astor Piazzolla

Born in Mar del Plata and raised partly in New York, where he discovered the bandoneon and jazz, he studied composition in Paris with Nadia Boulanger in 1954. His tango nuevo blends tango, jazz, and classical writing; he recorded Summit with Gerry Mulligan in Milan in 1974.
