Guitarist born in Algeciras, Paco de Lucía is, with Enrique Morente and Camarón de la Isla, one of the architects of nuevo flamenco; his album Fuente y caudal (1973) changed the place of the flamenco guitar. In 1979 he formed a guitar trio with John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell, later Al Di Meola, and introduced the Peruvian cajón into flamenco with his sextet founded in 1981.
