Soft Machine

band (keyboards, saxophone, bass, drums) · Canterbury

Formed in Canterbury in mid-1966 by Mike Ratledge, Robert Wyatt, Kevin Ayers, and Daevid Allen, the group is at the heart of the Canterbury scene. Starting from psychedelic rock, it evolved toward jazz-rock with "Volume Two," fully achieved on "Third" (1970) and "Fourth" (1971), then became purely instrumental.
