British jazz
The "trad boom" of the 1950s (Ken Colyer, Humphrey Lyttelton, Chris Barber) precedes a modern scene: Ronnie Scott's opens in London in 1959, Stan Tracey is the house pianist there, Tubby Hayes reigns there. Joe Harriott records Free Form (1960). In the 1980s, Loose Tubes and Courtney Pine revive the scene, before the new London generation.
