Pedro Iturralde · 1967 · Andalusian folk song (García Lorca collection) treated as modal jazz

Context

Navarrese saxophonist Pedro Iturralde adapts, with his quartet from the Whisky Jazz Club in Madrid, folk songs collected by García Lorca. At the suggestion of German critic Joachim-Ernst Berendt, he adds a flamenco guitar: the young Paco de Lucía plays on it under the pseudonym Paco de Algeciras, for contractual reasons. The album Jazz Flamenco (Hispavox, 1967) is one of the founding acts of flamenco-jazz.
