People in Sorrow Part 1
Context
First part of a long improvisation recorded on July 7, 1969, in Boulogne, near Paris, where the group had settled in the fall of 1968. Released by Pathé-Marconi and later reissued by Nessa, the album is called a "masterpiece" of the group by The Rolling Stone Jazz Record Guide. The quartet, which came out of the AACM, plays here without a drummer, before Don Moye's arrival in 1970.
